Remembering Hurricane Ike
September 13, 2026, marks 18 years since Hurricane Ike struck Bolivar Peninsula.
The storm changed our community forever. Since then, homes have been rebuilt, businesses have returned, and Bolivar Peninsula has continued to grow and thrive.
Through it all, the 1872 Bolivar Point Lighthouse remained standing.
That makes this event about more than visiting a historic landmark. It is also a day to remember the past, recognize the resilience of our community, and celebrate the future of Bolivar Peninsula.
See the “Pathway to the Light”
One of the highlights of the open house will be the “Pathway to the Light” commemorative brick viewing.
The bricks honor families, loved ones, and personal connections to Bolivar Peninsula. Together, they create a lasting pathway and another chapter in the history of the lighthouse.
Visitors will also be able to tour the lighthouse grounds and learn more about the ongoing work to preserve this historic property.
